Look what I have...

A very beautiful Amulet bag made by a special new friend...
Her work totally amazes me. After meeting each other she designed this especially for me with my love of quilting in mind. Didn't she do an absolutely amazing job. I love it and I can't wait to wear it. Just a tad to gorgeous to just be wearing any day,

So the wedding we have to attend end of October will be perfect.

I wish she had a Blog that I could direct you to so that you could see all of her work.  hmmm maybe I just may have to talk her into that. It is so worth the view, believe me!

Ready for a get-a-way

Finally done!   The "Holiday in London Duffle Bag" by Bari J.
Another pattern I just could not resist getting while at the "Arizona Quilt Show"
But I tell you...I had no idea what I was getting into when I made that purchase. Two friends and myself decided we were gonna tackle this bag together one week-end.
Well let me tell you.... It isn't called a weekender bag for nothing...it took the whole week-end to get it done! But I do love the end result and look forward to taking it on my road trip to Medicine hat next week-end. Wish I had a picture of the three of us together but you will have to wait on that one!

Yup....bought this one there too. And I absolutely love it. I will definately be making more of this one! I'm all ready for thanksgiving now....bring on the Turkey! and I was also able to use up some of my batiks from the
batik fat quarter club I belong too

And I can not just sew the day away...I had apples calling from the tree and a girlfriends calling me too...this is the end result, as well as some applesauce that has already made its way to the freezer

Here it is....
My August Schnibbles. top done but that is all I have done and I was lucky to get that done in time. Well actually I was not on time but because of the long Labor day week-end they extended it three days. Lucky for me :)
Oh ya and another months worth of batiks used up in this one too!

All in all, I must say it's been a busy week since being home from the lake and I don't think it is likely to slow down!

Olivia's Garden

Did I have a great day or did I have a great day.... I wasn't so sure that I would enjoy it, but I headed off to the Arizona Quilt Show in Mesa , all alone.

Of course I was very sad that my sister Wendy had already left and I could not get a .hold of the few quilty friends that I had made since being in Arizona. Rocky had agreed to take me and told me to take the time I needed and he would be outside in the park waiting for me. Well little did I know that I could of spent the entire day there but I'm pretty sure by then my ride would not of been waiting for me.

The first vendor I stopped at was "Red Bucket List" ...I fell in love with everything she had in her store. Designer Michelle Hollis was such a sweetheart and the two of us could of quilt talked all day but I really felt it a little rude on my part to hog too much of her. After visiting for quite some time and of course finding many patterns, kits and fabrics to purchase she looked at me and said, "you must be Canadian" of course proudly I answered yes and she said I just knew it...you are so sweet! Now doesn't that just make a person's day?

Well back to my title of my blog today....
While browsing and enjoying all of Michelle's patterns I came across this Livee's Garden. Of course we did have to do a little grandma bragging about our Olivia's
Once home in the spring I told my 3 year old granddaughter Olivia that Nanny was going to make her a new quilt and I would be sending some sample fabric in the mail to her to see if she liked it and of course make sure it would match in her big girl room. I was soon busy stitching away and was able to give Olivia her quilt when she came out to visit at Father Day

# 3 Schnibbles finds itself completed and already at home...

Lincoln...

and its under way...using up all that left over stash from my " Between Friends" quilt that I made for my girlfriend. I must say I did have to alter it bit because I wanted to have it fit my fireplace mantel in our trailer. I'm quite pleased and I love how it will match with my "Stella does Spring" quilt that I do take in our trailer for the winter.

And yes I thought I would show you my jar of snippets. This jar started out empty when I made my very first cut for my very first schnibbles, "Gentle Art"

and of course, I look forward to the parade on August 1st.....

CAN'T WAIT!

My seconds schnibbles is ready for the parade

Figured I better get at it pretty quick or I would be falling short of the parade ride this month...I'm heading to Ontario to spend some time with family and I'm almost certain there will be no time for quilting and besides that I'm not willing to leave my clothing behind just so I have room for a sewing machine. I'm not real sure I like these new baggage rules but who am I to say.

THIS HAS NOW BECOME MY NEW DRESSER OR TRUNK RUNNER.....

#2 Schnibbles ready to be sandwiched but it might have to wait till I get back home...can't wait to see the others.

I'm off to the parade...the schnibbles parade that is

Yup my first shnibbles completed for the month of May...I have decided to join in on "The year of Schnibbles" with many other quilters and I especially like the idea of using up scraps from my stash. That will be my goal for this year. Can I do it? Well I have done one using up all the scraps from my block of the month "Be Attitudes" quilt

Looking forward to seeing what the others have done and of course to see what will be coming my way in June!

FINALLY IT LET ME UPLOAD A PICTURE.....

2 more pictures...better late than never

Well here are two of them,,,tried to show you a third picture of where I placed it but of course it wouldn't let me once again

what do you think? the red adds a little pop to it , don't you think? I will try and add the last photo.
I spent a good part of my day doing yard work only to walk away from it feeling like my yard looked tidied up but oh so bare....so down I marched to my sewing room and pulled out one of my old favorite patterns and put together this outdoor banner.

Looked like it needed a little splash of colour so added a scrappy red binding to it ...

butfor some reason it is not letting me download anymore pictures....grrrrr

Moose Jaw Quilt Show

8:00 a.m. and the van was loaded with a capable and friendly chauffeur and the rest of the vehicle was filled with fellow quilters.....and we were off to Moose Jaw.

This is what greeted us at the main doors outside

I have to apologise but ...I have misplaced my pamphlet from the show so I can not let you now the categories that these quilts came from...
Thought I would share some of my favorites and then let you have a peek at some of the pieces that are so artistically put together.. Wow, what talent!

now for some very artzy pieces

This elephant was done by a 16 year old as an school assignment...amazing

I need your help...

I designed this quilt with special quilt blocks in mind. Like I said, my dear sister has me hooked on Carrie's schnibble patterns and I decided to start off with her Full House" pattern block. I chose this block because my dear friend Janet has the biggest heart and open door to all she knows.... her house is always full and she loves every minute of it. Secondly I chose Mon Ami " My Friend" and that she is! I was quick to decide that these little friendship star blocks would have to be apart of this quilt. Now I knew I needed more than just this for my lap quilt or it would only cover her to the knees. Winter white was my very first schnibbles purchase because I just love "Flying Geese" and I got thinking one day of what this pattern block represents and I knew I needed to look no further I had my last block pattern in mind. You see, Janet and I are both "Snowbirds" and travel south to Phoenix in the winter ...just like our Canadian geese. So how fitting, eh. So there it is my quilt top...very ready and waiting now to be sandwiched together and stitched with love for a very special friend

I'm sure you are probably wondering why I titled this blog " I need your help" well I do! This is the very first quilt I can actually say I designed and I think it is only fitting that I give this quilt a name....hmmmm

HELP!

Oh what my big sister doesn't talk me into...

Well ladies...this is what I have been working on since arriving home from Arizona on April 12th...thought maybe I would be out in my yard doing some spring cleaning but that is a long way off! but, that's OK. I really want to get this project completed and I guess this is the time for it. I had a stack of purples in my stash and a girlfriend that carries the same colours in her living room...so yes you have guessed it. My stash is slowly becoming a quilt for her 70th birthday and 50th anniversary that I must say has passed, but like the saying goes, "better late than never".
It is starting to come together but taking awhile. For some silly reason I thought it would even be extra special if I designed it myself. My sister this past fall got me hooked on Carrie's schnibbles, and yes I fell for hook line and sinker, but I must say I love her patterns. Anyway I had some favorites that just seemed to represent my friend and I. I will tell you a bit more about it when I get the top completed(which of course is taking me extra long because I have to calculate every block and strip and piece myself and a mathematician I am not!!

Hopefully before the days end I will have a top to show you....
